Nomenclature
When referring to the OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON brands, certain fixed terms are used. These terms support brand recognition and affiliation with the OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON brands.
Both brand names OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON should generally be prefixed to the product name or the OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON service, e.g. OMNIplus Training (exception: BusPoint). This can be omitted if the reference in the text is clear.
A differentiation is made between level 1 (brand-related terms) and level 2 (terms from OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON communication with a stringent method of use).
Terms in the Level 1 category (brand-like terms) are never translated and are adopted unchanged into foreign languages, including the exact spelling. These terms are usually in English (e.g. BusWorld). As a general rule, the American English spelling should be used for English terms (e.g. Center, Tire). The aim is to achieve a uniform appearance in all markets.
Terms in category 2 (terms with a strict usage) are translated into the respective national languages. The following applies to the translation: always translate literally and do not modify the descriptive term! The form of presentation defined in German with regard to the use of capital letters in the word is to be retained. The spelling is based on the orthography applicable in the respective country, e.g. the Duden dictionary for the German language.
The following should also be observed: if the term consists of two compound words, the first letter of each word is capitalized (e.g. ServiceNetz). If there are three words, two words are written together, each with the first letter capitalized, and the third word is written separately (also with the first letter in capitals; e.g. CentruAutovehicule Rulate or UsedVehicle Center). Two-part terms are not linked with a hyphen. If this is incomprehensible or incorrect in the respective foreign language, it is permitted to make an exception to this requirement after prior consultation with Corporate Marketing.
If terms are used in a generic, generally descriptive way and not in the context of the services of OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON, the grammatically correct spelling is to be used:
“A service network is needed to retain customers.” (general use)
“That’s why we are continuously developing our OMNIplus Service Network.” (specific use)
In the following, the terms currently used are listed below. The terms in category Level 1 are to be used worldwide.
Overview OMNIplus / OMNIplus ON Terms of the Category Level 1 – Brand-Like Terms
Terms classified as Level 1 are never translated and are adopted one-to-one into foreign languages, including spelling.
Exception: If it seems appropriate in a particular language, a plural “s” may be added to a word in category Level 1, e.g. “OMNIplus ServiceCards” if both cards are mentioned in a text.
The terms shown in the table with the addition of the brand name must always be used in this sequence. For all others, use with or without the corresponding brand name is permitted.
