Stationery
Letterhead, business cards, envelopes or pre-printed forms are indispensable for the brand appearance and serve as a visual figurehead. The consistent use helps to make the BusStore visual identity unique to the public.
Business stationery is a key part of the overall image of BusStore and acts an advertisement for the brand mark. The BusStore identity can only be communicated to the public consistently if these design standards are rigorously respected and followed.

Writing Rules
The basis for the structuring of letters is the standard DIN 5008.The following rules must be adhered to regarding the layout/content of letters:
Brand Name
The brand name BusStore is always written in internal texts without a space and a hyphen in the brand font Daimler CS. Here the word components are always printed in italics and written without spaces. The brand’s defining feature is the capital printed “B” as well as the “S” from Store.
Recipient’s Address
The address field has seven lines, the first line being reserved for additional information, such as registered mail. The address should not exceed six lines; there is no line space between any additional information and the address itself. Where the letter is destined for another country, the destination city and country are written in capital letters. If possible, the destination city should be written in the language of the destination country (e.g. FIRENZE rather than FLORENCE). The destination country is written in English on the last line of the address field.
Date
In view of different notations and in the interests of clarity, it is recommended to write out or abbreviate the names of months.
Subject
The subject is written below the reference line and has no period. It can be set in bold. There are two-line spaces after the subject.
Salutation
The salutation is separated from the actual content by a line space. If the name of the recipient is known, the salutation is as follows: “Dear Ms ...,” or “Dear Mr ...,” If the recipient’s name is uncertain, the general form of address should be “Dear Sir or Madam,”.
Phone/Fax Numbers
Phone numbers should be written as follows in international form: plus symbol/country code/blank/area code (without “0”)/blank/phone number/hyphen/extension, e. g. +49 000 1234 5678. The notation of telephone, telefax and mobile telephone numbers follows the international standard E.123 by the standardization union.
Text Composition
Letters are written left-justified in the Daimler CS corporate font in 11 pt. Either bold or italic is used for portions to be emphasized. The Daimler Buses corporate name is written in capital and small letters. Neither all capitals nor small capitals are allowed. The complimentary close is separated from the main text by a line space; the company name Daimler Buses together with the legal form “GmbH” is directly below the complimentary close. The first and last names of the signatories are written out in full on the computer-generated signatory line. Prefixes such as i.A., i.V. or ppa. are positioned in front of the signatory names and on the same line or are added by hand when the letter is signed.
Symbols
Information on the phone, internal post code (HPC) or similar appear exclusively in written form. The use of graphical symbols is not permitted.
Letterheads
Variants and Areas of Application
The layout of the letterhead follows DIN standards, taking into account company law regulations and corresponding postal recommendations. The standard letterhead (with and without reference numeral) always include all information required under company law.
All examples shown are to be adapted according to the country to the required corporate law. The postal regulations of the respective countries (e.g. address field on the right) must be taken into account.
The footer of the standard letterhead contains all information required by commercial and corporate law, the sender’s full address and communication details. An exception is the letterhead with abridged footer, which is used for employee references, for example. The footer is always structured from the bottom to the top.
Format | Paper quality | Print colors |
DIN A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) | PlanoJet 80 g/m2 | BusStore Orange, BusStore Blue and black |
Please always make sure that you use the latest version of the Daimler Buses Board of Management footer when sending e-mails or customizing templates for business stationery. Subsidiaries should observe the corresponding national regulations and corporate standards. Please also make sure that all relevant bank details and contact information are correct.
Letterhead
On business stationery the brand mark always appears centered on the top edge of the page. No other marks, symbols or texts may be used in the immediate vicinity of the brand mark (cf. the “Brand Mark manual).
Footer
The footer contains the endorsement, the information pertaining to company and commercial law (taking country-specific regulations into account) and the address. When using the letter headed paper, as a general rule, it must be ensured that the information provided in the footer is up-to-date.
The information is stated in the national language and in English. If there are two national languages, these two languages can be used instead. With non-Latin characters, the information is set out in non-Latin and Latin characters.
Invoices
Invoices are generated in SAP. The BusStore brand mark is printed in black.
Business Cards
Business cards are always monolingual. In special cases, texts in non-Latin characters (e.g. Japanese) can appear on the reverse side.
The right text block may contain a maximum of 6 lines and the left one a maximum of 4 lines. The last line must always be positioned 4.8 mm from the bottom margin. For the department and function designation (determined by the Daimler Buses corporate organization), 2 lines are intended to be used as a maximum setting. Phone, fax and mobile phone numbers as well as the e-mail address appear in the left text block on the front side; the address is placed into the right text block. In exceptional cases, the reverse side may be used for space reasons.
Format | Paper quality | Print colors |
85 mm x 54 mm | white, smooth cardboard, 275 g/m2 | BusStore Orange, BusStore Blue and black |
Envelopes
The purpose and objective of envelopes, jiffy bags and packets are to protect documents and messages on their way to the recipient. Here it is important that they are labeled company-specifically.
Format | Print colors |
DIN C4 (324 mm x 229 mm) | BusStore Orange, BusStore Blue and black |
DIN C5 (229 mm x 162 mm) | |
DIN C6 (162 mm x 114 mm) | |
DIN lang (DL) (220 mm x 110 mm) |
In daily business, standard size envelopes are used. The brand mark is printed on the front side of the envelope. General envelopes are made of light recycled paper.
Brand Mark
The brand mark is reproduced on white envelopes in BusStore Orange, BusStore Blue and black.
Sender Information
The sender information for envelopes is only permitted on the reverse side of the envelope.
E-Mail Correspondence
Office communication, once conducted using letter paper, is dealt with today quickly and effectively using e-mail. Since January1, 2007, it has been clarified that e-mails also represent business letters as defined by law in accordance with Article 80(1) of the German Stock Corporation Act (Aktiengesetz – AktG). E-mails with legally binding explanations or information for customers, suppliers or authorities must contain the prescribed company details as “electronic business letters”.
Option to Insert the Company Information in MS Outlook
Daimler Buses GmbH’s current BoM footer is automatically added to e-mails in MS Outlook if the paragraph symbol [§] is selected and the corresponding option is chosen in the “Mandatory information” field in the “Message” tab. This information is not necessary in internal e-mail correspondence or in informal e-mails to colleagues at other companies.
The brand font Daimler CS should not be used in e-mail correspondence because this typeface is not pre-installed on the recipients’ computers outside Daimler Truck AG, resulting in changes to the appearance of the text, line breaks etc. The Calibri (11 pt) system font is the default setting in the MS Outlook application. This font features a high level of technical compatibility across operating systems and enables a neutral data transfer between different software programs on various end devices.
Signature in E-Mail Correspondence
The sender information in an e-mail is often the only opportunity to clearly and unequivocally identify the sender. Accordingly, very specific requirements are made in terms of the form and content of this information. The Calibri (11 pt) system font is the default setting in the MS Outlook application as well as in all other “next workplace” programs. Any color highlighting, bold and/or italic font formatting and facsimile signatures are not allowed.
The signature in an e-mail should be used as follows:
