Daimler Truck Financial Services is clearly recognizable in advertisements and on posters by its own distinctive logotype. The brand marks of commercial vehicle brands of Daimler Truck AG are not used in the visual appearance of Daimler Truck Financial Services to avoid visual mixing or dilution of brand identities in terms of content.
Structure
The layout area of advertisements and posters is divided into image and text sections. The background is always white and the Daimler Truck Financial Services logotype is centered horizontally and vertically in the uppermost unit. This corresponds to 1/6 of the format height. The size of the Daimler Truck Financial Services logotype is proportionate to the format of the advertisement or the poster.
In the content area below the header section, a meaningful photo motif or a thematically and visually harmonizing combination of several photos (multipicture) should generally be used. The height of the picture depends on the format size and amount of text. A photo motif that fills the entire design area could also be used. The headline and text are then aligned on the photo motif with sufficient space from the format edges.
In exceptional cases, for special topics that require explanation, the illustration can be omitted in favor of a longer headline or a larger amount of text, and the background in the content area can be fully covered with the color Light Grey.
Typography
For each photo motif, two or a maximum of three font sizes can be used for the text structure in advertisements and on posters, whereby the main message is always emphasized with the largest font size. Headings are set without a final period, which also applies to complete sentences. The text is always structured from top to bottom and is left-aligned with the design grid of the layout area. The typeface color is always black; additional text in the image area, such as captions, is in either black or white, depending on the contrast with the background.
Additional Content
If additional sender details, such as website addresses or similar, are to be reproduced in the advertisement or on the poster, these are emphasized from the corporate typeface Daimler CS in Bold. They can be integrated into body text or created as a closing line. QR codes or action symbols are optional and should be positioned at the bottom right of the layout area. Cropped key visuals are placed on a rectangular background in Light Grey and QR codes can be placed on a white, frameless area.
Using the Design Templates
For the design and production of advertisements, editable templates for the desktop publishing software Adobe InDesign are available for downloading in portrait and landscape formats, which consist of several pages and offer a wide range of layout variants. However, because daily newspapers, magazines and similar print media use different advertising spaces, the details in the templates provided are only for guidance and must be adapted on a case-by-case basis. The advertisement sizes marked “Magazine” are based on the DIN A5 and DIN A4 format, the formats marked “Daily newspaper” refer to the DIN A3 or DIN A2 format.
These instructions correspond to the available templates for the production of printed posters in the portrait and landscape formats DIN A3 to DIN A0.
