Pictograms, infographics, tables and diagrams are designed to convey complex contexts in an easily understandable way. All graphic elements are characterized by a clear, concise presentation and are displayed two-dimensionally without shadow effects. Daimler CS is used everywhere as the standard font.
Pictograms and Icons
Pictograms and icons represent specific objects and facts. Therefore, they should be clearly recognizable, self-explanatory and internationally understandable. The design language is generally angular and the line thickness is based on the visual metrics of Daimler CS. The pictograms can be colored in black, white, Petrol and Light Grey, including their darkening and lightening.
The symbol collection in the Daimler Truck library is continuously expanded as required to include individual pictograms for Daimler Truck Financial Services’ products and solutions. The form language and line thickness must be consistently adopted when creating new symbols for non-existent objects or facts.
All symbols are measured uniformly using a grid that defines the positioning of graphic elements both consistently and flexibly. Individual icons can be combined to form a graphic to visualize complex relationships by aligning them proportionally in an extended grid with the same scaling ratio.
Tables and diagrams
The tables and diagrams are displayed on white or a background in Light Grey, text and figures in black on white or light backgrounds or on a dark background in white. The rows and/or columns of a table can be displayed in Light Grey including the lightened or darkened color tones, baselines are displayed in black.
To highlight texts, values or areas, the accent color Petrol can be used with corresponding lightening and darkening. Yellow is only used sparingly to highlight whether the background of the table or individual elements in the diagram provides sufficient contrast.
Infographics
Using a combination of pictograms, illustrations, photos and text reduced to essential content, static or animated infographics can visualize complex information and data in an easily understandable way. All colors of the color palette are available and it is recommended to design infographics with two or three colors that have high contrast. Generally, Yellow should be selectively used for infographics.
If different Daimler CS font styles are combined in an infographic, attention should be paid to the balanced visual tonality. Headlines and longer texts should always be written in mixed case (upper/lower case), although capital letters can also be used for relevant keywords.
