Stationery
Letterhead, business cards, envelopes or pre-printed forms are indispensable for the brand appearance and serve as a visual figurehead. The consistent use helps to make the OMNIplus visual identity unique to the public.
Business stationery such as letterheads, business cards, envelopes or forms are a key part of the brand design and the company’s visual flagship for the OMNIplus brand. Only the consistent and responsible implementation of these rules can help to present the OMNIplus identity unmistakably to the public. The following writing rules and design specifications are valid for all the OMNIplus business stationery.
Writing Rules
The letters are written in accordance with DIN 5008. The following rules must be adhered to regarding the layout/content of letters:
Brand Name
The brand name OMNIplus is always written in internal texts without spaces and a hyphen in the brand font Daimler CS Regular. The word component “OMNI” is written in uppercase while the word component “plus” is thereby set in lowercase. The brand name OMNIplus is not written in italic letters (refer to the “Brand Mark” manual).
Recipient’s Address
The address field consists of seven lines, the first of which is reserved for additions such as registered mail. The address should not exceed six lines; there is no blank line between the additional remark and the address. For foreign addresses, the destination and country are written in capital letters. Where possible, the destination should be indicated in the language of the country of destination (e.g. FIRENZE instead of FLORENZ). The country of destination is indicated in German on the last line of the address.
Date
Month names are written out in full or abbreviated:
1. November 2021 or 1. Nov. 2021.
Subject
The wording of the subject is arranged below the reference lines and written without an end point. It can be set in bold. The wording of the subject is followed by two blank lines.
Salutation
The salutation is separated from the actual letter content by a blank line. If the name of the addressee is known, the letter is introduced as follows: “Dear Mrs Mustermann,” or “Dear Mr Mustermann,”. If the exact recipient is not known, the general introduction “Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,” should be used.
Phone/Fax Numbers
Phone numbers should be written as follows in international form:
plus symbol/country code/blank/ area code (without “0”)/blank/phone number/hyphen/extension, e. g. +49 731 181-2345. For phone numbers inside Germany, the following formation applies as per the DIN regulation: 0731 181-2345. On business cards the PC fax number maybe used instead of the fax number.
Text Composition
In Daimler CS Regular, letters are written left-justified in 11 pt in the flutter type. Highlighting is set in bold or italics. The company name Daimler Buses is generally used in upper and lower case. Capital letters and small caps are not permitted. The greeting formula is separated from the text by a blank line, the company name Daimler Buses together with the legal form “GmbH” is directly below the greeting formula. When the signatories’ names are reproduced by machine, the first name and surname are written out in full. Additions, e.g. i.A., i.V. or ppa., appear before the name is reproduced in the same line or are added by hand when the letter is signed.
Symbols
Information on the phone, fax, in-house post code (HPC) or similar appear exclusively in written form. The presentation in the form of graphical symbols is not permitted.
Letterheads
Variants and Areas of Application
The layout of the letterhead follows DIN standards, taking into account company law regulations and corresponding postal recommendations. The standard letterhead (with and without reference line) always contains all mandatory details required under company law.
All examples shown below must be adapted to the required information under company law depending on the particular country. The postal regulations of the respective countries (e.g. address field on the right) must also be taken into account.
Format | Paper quality | Print colors |
DIN A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) | PlanoJet 80 g/m2 | OMNIplus Deep Blue, Pure Blue and black |
The footer of the standard letterhead contains all the legal information required under company and commercial law, the complete sender address and the communication details. An exception is the letterhead with a shortened footer, which is used, for example, for printing certificates. The footer is always built from bottom to top.
Please make sure that you always use the current managing director footer of Daimler Buses GmbH in fax and e-mail signatures and when using templates (e.g. business stationery). For foreign companies, national regulations and corporate standards must be observed. Please also ensure that you use the correct and relevant bank and communication details.
Header
On business stationery of the Customer Services & Parts divisions, the OMNIplus Daimler Buses Service Center, BusWorld operations and the OMNIplus BusPort operations the brand mark always appears centered at the top edge of the page format. No other marks, symbols or texts may be used within the free space area around all sides of the brand mark (see the “Brand Mark” manual).
Footer
The footer contains the endorsement, the information prescribed by company and commercial law (taking country-specific regulations into account), the address and the bank details. The footer of Daimler Buse owned companies is always set in a single column. The footer for authorized service points with competitors’ brands is set in 3 blocks. When creating letterheads, make sure that the information in the footer corresponds to the current status.
The information is indicated in the national language and in English. If there are two national languages, these two languages can be used instead. With non-Latin characters, the information is set out in non-Latin and Latin script.
Where not otherwise stated, the formatting (e.g. typography, colors, etc.) corresponds to the specifications of the template for “Customer Services & Parts”.
Letterhead for Authorized Service Points with Competitors’ Brands
Authorized Service Points in the OMNIplus BusWorld and OMNIplus BusPort category use the shown letterheads, provided that they only offer services for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses. The OMNIplus brand mark must not be shown in this case. If a service center also offers services related to competitors’ brands, a reference can be placed on the company’s own letterhead.
The performance categorization “BusWorld” and “BusPort” may only be used on OMNIplus own stationery matter. The use of this reference for business stationery of authorized Service Points is an exceptional case and subject to approval if OMNIplus stationery is not applied.
Format | Paper quality | Print colors |
DIN A4 (210 mm x 297 mm) |
PlanoJet 80 g/m2 | OMNIplus Deep Blue and black and logo colors of the Service Point |
If a Service Point has an own company logo, the original artwork must be placed centered inside the gray-colored field. Otherwise, the name of the Service Point in Daimler CS Bold in OMNIplus Deep Blue with a font size of max. 28 pt is used here.
The corresponding implementations for OMNIplus Daimler Buses Service Center (own retail), OMNIplus BusWorld (partner companies) and OMNIplus BusPort (partner companies) are also derived from the shown letterheads of “Customer Services & Parts”.
Invoices
Invoices are generated from SAP.
The footer in invoices corresponds to the specifications for letterhead without a reference line.
Business Cards
Business cards are printed always monolingual. In special cases, texts in non-Latin characters (e.g. Japanese) can appear on the reverse side.
Format | Paper quality | Print colors |
85 mm x 54 mm | white, smooth cardboard, 275 g/m2 | OMNIplus Deep Blue, Pure Blue and black |
The right-hand text block may not exceed 8 lines. The last line should be placed in 4.8 mm distance from the bottom margin. The description of department or function is limited to two lines (determined by the Daimler Buses corporate structure). The mobile phone number and e-mail address generally appear on the front side. In exceptional cases and for reason of space, they can also be indicated on the reverse side.
Compliment Card
The sender information is always positioned at the bottom, left-justified structured, in two lines and set in the national language and in English. Where two national languages exist, these two languages can be used instead. In the case of non-Latin characters, the information is indicated in non-Latin and Latin characters.
Format | Paper quality | Print colors | Line thickness |
DIN A6 (148 mm x 105 mm) |
white, smooth cardboard, 275 g/m2 | OMNIplus Deep Blue, Pure Blue and black | 0.15 mm (0.5 pt) |
The typographical specifications and dimensions correspond to those of the “Customer Services & Parts” compliment card.
Envelopes
The purpose and objective of envelopes, jiffy bags and packets are to protect documents and messages on their way to the recipient. Therefore, it is important that they are labeled company-specifically (OMNIplus Customer Services & Parts, Daimler Buses owned companies and Daimler Buses partner companies).
Format | Print colors |
DIN C4 (324 mm x 229 mm) | OMNIplus Deep Blue and Pure Blue |
DIN C5 (229 mm x 162 mm) | OMNIplus Deep Blue and Pure Blue |
DIN C6 (162 mm x 114 mm) | OMNIplus Deep Blue and Pure Blue |
DIN lang (DL) (220 mm x 110 mm) | OMNIplus Deep Blue and Pure Blue |
In day-to-day business, standard size envelopes are to be used. The brand mark is printed on the front side of the envelope.
Brand Mark
The brand mark is printed on white envelopes in OMNIplus Deep Blue and Pure Blue.
Sender Information
The sender information for envelopes is only permitted on the reverse side of the envelope.
Stamps
Due to the poor reproduction quality, illustrations, e.g. vehicle vignettes, etc., are generally not used in stamps. In company stamps, therefore, the company name or brand name does not appear in the form of the company logotype or brand mark, but only as a lettering. Also, the clichés of the franking machines always contain only text elements and no pictorial objects.
The contents of the stamps are set in the Daimler CS Regular. The maximum font size for the company and the location name is 14 pt. Preferred stamping inks are blue and black. For franking stamps, blue is the default color in most countries. The sender is set left-aligned and structured in two or at the maximum four lines.
E-Mail Correspondence
Office communication, which used to be handled on stationery, is now handled quickly and effectively by e-mail. Since January 01, 2007 it has been clarified by § 80 paragraph 1 of the German Stock Corporation Act that e-mails can also be business letters in the legal sense. E-mails with business explanations or information, which are sent in the name of the company to customers, suppliers or authorities, must contain as “electronic business letters” the prescribed mandatory company legal details.
Option to Auto-Insert Mandatory Disclosures under Commercial Law
In MS Outlook, the current Daimler Buses GmbH Management Board footer is automatically attached in a newly created message if you click on the “Paragraph” icon under the “Message” tab and then under “Mandatory information”. Please note that you do not have to enter this information in internal communications or in informal mails to colleagues in other Daimler Truck AG’s subsidiaries.
The Daimler CS should not be used in e-mail correspondence outside Daimler Truck, as the receiving computers usually do not have Daimler CS installed and therefore the typeface, line breaks, etc. are changed. In MS Outlook, the default font for internal and external e-mails is Calibri. This system font has high technical compatibility and enables neutral data transfer between different software programs for Windows OS.
Signature in Business E-Mails
The sender information in the e-mail is often the only way to clearly and unambiguously identify the sender. For this reason, specific requirements related to its form and content need to be observed. In MS Outlook, the Calibri system font is the default setting (preset in size 11 pt). Any color highlighting, bold and/or italic font formatting and facsimile signatures are not allowed.
When adding an e-mail signature, the use of corporate logotypes and brand marks as well as event, department or campaign logos is not permitted. This applies to both external and internal e-mail messages.
Employees should use the signature in their emails as shown below:
