The design principles for internal and external signage apply to all Daimler Buses locations and name-bearing subsidiaries. The guidelines for the use of the Mercedes-Benz brand by the Daimler Truck AG remain binding for production facilities that continue to have „Mercedes-Benz“ in the plant designation.
The concept of facility signage combines representative visibility with maximum efficiency in design, manufacture and maintenance. It is based on a few formal equipment elements and at the same time offers a high radius of action for flexible technical implementation on site to enable appropriate signage of facilities worldwide in accordance with spatial conditions and individual requirements.
Primary facility sigange
The primary identification of facilities is provided by free-standing pylons or wall-mounted signs and flags, which are placed at the main gateway or entrance so that they are clearly visible to arriving visitors. If the site has several entrances, a sign or pylon is placed at each entrance. Flags are reserved for marking the main gateway or the main entrance.
Within one and the same plant, the Daimler Buses logotype can only be repeatedly shown on pylons or wall-mounted signs if the plant is located on two or more separate premises. The “Daimler Buses” logotype may also be placed over a large building area as a superordinate facility signage, provided that the building allows a suitable space for positioning the logotype. As a rule, third-party logos or text are not included in Daimler Buses facility signage.
Reception areas
The representative reception area of a building or office floor can be marked with the Daimler Buses corporate logotype. This is shown on a sign alone or in combination with the brand marks of products and services that the organizational unit in question supports. This combination of brand marks is limited to the reception area.
Direction and signpost system, interior signage
Free-standing or wall-mounted signs or free-standing pylons with direction and path information should only be set up at Daimler Buses locations where they are necessary for orientation. The pictograms with direction arrows from the corresponding Daimler Truck library are used for signpost systems in buildings.
External signs and notices in public areas
The Daimler Buses corporate logotype is used on external signs, e.g. on overview panels of industrial parks, only shown if other resident companies are also represented with their logotype; representations of organizational units are placed below the corporate logotype set in Daimler CS. Otherwise, the location designation at Daimler Buses or subsidiaries is only used in the general font of the overview panel.
