Pictograms, infographics, tables and diagrams are intended to convey complex overall relationships in an easily understandable manner. All graphic elements are characterized by a clear, clear presentation and are displayed two-dimensionally without shadow effects. Daimler CS is used as the standard font everywhere.
Pictograms and icons
Pictograms and icons stand for specific objects or facts. They must therefore be clearly recognizable, self-explanatory and internationally understandable. The design idiom is basically rectangular, the line thickness is based on the optical metrics of the Daimler CS. The pictograms can be colored in black, white, Petrol and Light Grey, including their dark shades and gradations.
The range of pictograms in the Daimler Truck Library is continuously expanded to include individual symbols for Daimler Buses as required. When creating a new pictogram for non-existent objects or topics, the design approach and line thickness must be consistently adopted.
All symbols are measured uniformly using a grid that defines the positioning of the graphic elements as consistently as it is flexible. Individual pictograms can be combined to visualize complex relationships in a graphic by aligning them proportionally to each other in the extended grid with the same scale.
Tables and diagrams
Tables and diagrams are on white or Light Grey background, texts and numbers in black on white or light background or on dark background in white. Rows and/or columns of a table can be displayed in Light Grey including the lightened or darkened shades, baselines are displayed in black.
To highlight texts, values or areas, the accent color Petrol can be used with the corresponding light and dark shades. Yellow is only used sparingly for highlighting if the background of the table or individual elements in the diagram provides sufficient contrast.
Infographics
A combination of pictograms, illustrations, photos and texts reduced to the essential content enables static or animated infographics to visualize complex information and data in an easily understandable manner. All colors in the color palette are available: It is recommended to design infographics with two or three colors that have a high contrast. As is generally the case, yellow should only be used selectively when designing infographics.
When combining different Daimler CS font styles in an infographic, attention should be paid to a balanced visual tonality. Headlines and longer texts are always provided in mixed case (upper/lower case), whereby upper case can also be used for striking keywords.
